SOCIETY TROPHIES

From 1963 to 1973 the Albert Sellers Memorial Trophy was awarded to the "most improved tower". Difficulties in deciding upon the formula for measuring "improvements" led to the disbandment of this competition and from 1973 the trophy was awarded to the winners of the Annual Striking Competition.
It would seem from the 1973 Annual Report that in that year the cup was awarded to two different towers for separate competitions!
Since 1983 the Joan Castle Memorial Trophy has been awarded to the tower whose representative band of members has rung the most quarter peals during the year.
Unfortunately some of the records of achievements in the earlier years have apparently been lost.
